Carefree Road Band (aka “The Roadies”) were formed in 2015 when John Tubridy invited a number of his musician friends to join him for the 2016 Illawarra Folk Festival, an annual music event held each January in Bulli, a coastal township north of Wollongong, Australia. John was a familiar face in the folk scene in the Illawarra for many years, but he was looking for a bigger band to help take his original songs to another level.
Since that inaugural performance the band have developed a unique sound that blends classic folk, adult contemporary and country rock. They have been in high demand playing regularly across the Illawarra region and launched their first CD of original Tubridy compositions, “Just Let It Go”at the 2017 Illawarra Folk festival, the place where it all began. Since then the band have become renowned for their Peter, Paul & Mary tributes and concerts highlighting their music of the 1960’s have attracted wide acclaim.
